Instructor leading a lifeguard certification class in CPR compressions beside a pool

Yes, we run lifeguard certification across Upstate New York, including the Hudson Valley, the Capital Region, Central New York and Western New York. We hold classes in every county in the state, and for facilities we bring the course to your pool rather than asking your staff to travel downstate.

Why lifeguard certification in Upstate New York is hard to find

Most lifeguard training in New York is concentrated around New York City and Long Island. If you are in Poughkeepsie, Albany, Syracuse, Rochester or Buffalo, the practical problem is not usually the course content. It is that the nearest scheduled class is two hours away and runs on a date that does not suit you.

That is the gap we exist to fill. Our instructors travel, and a facility with enough staff to certify does not need to send anybody anywhere.

Two ways to certify

Individuals

If you are certifying yourself rather than a team, call us and tell us your county. We will tell you what is scheduled nearby and when.

Facilities

If you have a group of staff, on-site is almost always the better answer. We come to your pool, your team trains in the water they will actually guard, and everyone finishes on the same day with the same certification date. See on-site certification at your facility.

Frequently asked questions

Do you run lifeguard certification in Upstate New York year round?

Yes. Coverage is statewide. What varies is how often a public class is scheduled in a given area, which is why upstate facilities usually book on-site dates instead.

I am the only person who needs certifying. Can you still help?

Call us with your county and we will tell you what is available near you and when. Individual candidates are usually best served by joining a scheduled class.

Is a certification earned upstate valid downstate?

The certification itself is the same. Note that some employers and counties, Nassau County in particular, require an additional local qualifying exam before you can work there. That exam is separate from your course and costs $100.

How far ahead should a facility book?

For a pre-season certification, as early as you can. Spring dates go first, and travel scheduling is the constraint.
