On-site lifeguard certification class practicing a backboard rescue in a facility pool

Yes. We bring the course to your facility, anywhere in New York State. Instead of sending staff out to a training center on their own time, we run the certification at your pool, on your schedule, with your team. We hold classes in every county in New York.

Why facilities choose on-site lifeguard certification

Sending six staff members to an external course means six separate registrations, six travel arrangements, and six different completion dates. It also means they train in a pool that is not yours.

On-site lifeguard certification solves all four problems at once:

  • Your whole team certifies together, on the same day, with the same standard.
  • They train in your water. They learn the depth changes, the blind spots, the entry points, and the reach of your equipment, not a stranger’s.
  • No travel time and no staff scattered across different course dates.
  • You control the date. We schedule around your season, not the other way round.

  • YMCAs, JCCs and community centers

What we can certify your staff in

Course Price per person Hours
Lifeguard certification $420 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM
Lifeguard recertification $265 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM
CPR, AED and First Aid $125 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Swim Instructor Certification $450 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM

Waterfront certification, Bloodborne Pathogens, Basic Life Support, Emergency Oxygen and Junior Lifeguarding can also be delivered on site.

What your facility needs to provide

  • Pool access for the duration of the course, with water deep enough for the brick retrieval (7 to 10 feet)
  • A dry classroom space or an area suitable for the CPR and First Aid portions
  • Candidates who meet the prerequisites below

Prerequisites for your staff

Before certification day, each candidate should be able to:

  • Swim 300 yards continuously
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only
  • Retrieve a 10-pound object from 7 to 10 feet of water and return it within 1 minute 40 seconds
  • Be at least 15 years old for pool certification, or 16 for waterfront

It is worth screening candidates against this list before the course date. The swim prerequisite is where unprepared candidates fail, and it is the one thing a single training day cannot fix.

Frequently asked questions

Do you really cover the whole state?

Yes. We run classes in every county in New York, from Long Island and the five boroughs through the Hudson Valley, the Capital Region and Western New York.

How many staff do we need for an on-site course?

It depends on the course and your location. Call us with your numbers and we will tell you straight away whether an on-site date works or whether sending staff to a scheduled class is the better option.

When should we book on-site lifeguard certification?

That is the usual pattern. Most facilities book pre-season so certifications are in hand before opening day. Booking early matters, because spring dates fill first.

Can you handle recertifications and new certifications on the same visit?

Talk to us about the mix of staff you have. Recertification is a shorter, cheaper course for guards whose credentials are current or recently expired.

Do you also supply lifeguards?

Yes. If you are short-staffed as well as under-certified, we provide certified guards and full pool management. See lifeguards for hire and pool management.
